EARRINGS
I began my formal study of jewelry and small metals in 2014, I was 64 years old. I had a degree in art and worked as a high school art teacher, but I had never studied jewelry formally before. I have had an interest in jewelry most of my life. My aunt had introduced the family to jewelry making by teaching us how to polish rocks by hand, a great way to keep a child occupied for hours on end. Polishing rocks with emery cloth is a very time consuming business! She then introduce the family to "Trinket" kilns and we made copper enameled pins and brooches. At some point in my childhood I began to accumulate costume jewelry, my "pirate's treasure", at auctions. I bought myself my first ring when I was 10 years old at the local "dime" store, but quickly learned that a 10 year old boy wearing a gaudy ring was not considered appropriate. I learned that acceptable jewelry pieces for a boy were watches, cuff links, tie tacks, tie clasps, bolo ties or a neckerchief with slide, if you were a cub scout. I got my ears pierced when I was 22. People still ask me why I pierced my ears and I have always responded, "I like earrings."
I have no prices posted at this time, but you can inquire about any piece through email.
